Louise McLean: Director

With more than two decades in the recruitment industry, Louise has a broad range of exposure from Single Search Executive placements to managing significant internal recruitment functions. During a long career with Korn Ferry, starting in Executive & Middle Management search, Louise moved to commercially leading the outsourced recruitment solutions (RPO) for a number of clients including Fonterra. Louise commercially and strategically led this outsourced partnership across the Asia Pacific while also being accountable for the ANZ Centre of Excellence for Innovation which designed, implemented and evolved a number of internal recruitment functions across ANZ.

After many hours commuting on motorways and through airports, Louise made a decision to stay close to home, and founded Emergent Waikato in 2017. This business was most recently rebranded to Sagely with Louise as the sole Director. While Louise grew up in the deep South (most people know where Winton is) she has slowly migrated north (Uni at Otago, early career roles in Wellington, a move to Auckland) to Hamilton (thanks a staunchly loyal Waikato born and bred husband). She has a Masters of Psychology and for her it’s all about the relationships and how people are treated. You will be more than just a number to Louise, she’s genuinely interested in people and believes that we all ultimately end up where we should be, it’s just that sometimes we all might need a little bit of help getting there.

Julie Runciman: Recruitment Consultant

Julie will tell you that she fell into Recruitment but it turns out you couldn’t have found a career more suited to her!  After being placed by Robert Walters into a role at Vodafone after graduating with a BA/BCOM from the University of Auckland, she went back to them a couple of years later when it was time to look at new opportunities and they asked if she’d ever thought about a career in recruitment.  The rest, as they say is history!  After spending 5 years specializing in Accounting and Finance recruitment in Auckland, Julie and her husband made the decision to leave the city and move to the shores of Lake Karapiro in the Mighty Waikato where they are raising 3 adrenaline fueled, boisterous boys.  Since moving South, Julie has worked in various internal recruitment roles recruiting across various disciplines for a number of large organisations, including Fonterra, (which is where she first worked with Louise) GE Finance and Unitec, before joining Louise at Emergent Waikato - now Sagely Recruitment.

Julie is passionate about people finding their place in the world, matching candidates skill sets and career aspirations with the right jobs in the right organisations and takes great satisfaction in being part of that journey.  She wholeheartedly believes in the Sagely philosophy of the circular nature of relationships and being candidate to client focused and making sure we’re with you every step of the way.  It’s not just a mission statement or catch phrase, it’s at the core of who Louise and Julie are and at the heart of how they operate.
